2. The first hospital trip


2nd June 

Freddie was so super excited as we were going on a little trip. To a caravan park.

He woke up at about 5.30am because he was so super excited.

3rd July 

Freddie woke up fine. He didn't have much of an appetite for breakfast but that's nothing out of the ordinary. Sometimes he eats loads. Sometimes he doesn't.

We went to play mini golf which he was really excited about. He did really well.
His breathing wasn't great. He didn't like being in the sun. But again he has never really liked the sun. Luckily he loves sunglasses. 




We then went back to the caravan and his breathing came pretty bad. He was drawing in at his ribs. 




So I took him to Carlise Hospital at about 1pm.

We were seen pretty quickly. The Doctor examined his chest and said he had Viral induced wheeze, potential asthma. 
Freddie has never had issues with his breathing but his older brother and I (his Mam) have asthma. So it was possible.

The Dr gave him 10 puffs on a blue inhaler. 30 mins later his breathing was still the same. So he had another 10 and gave him some oral steroids. 


This seemed to perk him up. He was being more Freddie like, being nosey wanting to run around. 


So we were allowed home. With his new inhaler which he needed every 4 hours.

Once we got back to the caravan he fell asleep. He was up early though. It was hot. 
He woke up. We went for a scooter ride. He had some ice cream. He slept well that night.

 Though our journey is far from over. We still have a long way to go and we are unsure what the future will hold in terms of long term effects, we are grateful and thankful to so many people. My Mam, Susan and Dad, Jeff you both brought me up to be strong and my goodness I needed strength. You taught me to have a sense of humor and i definitely cracked some jokes throughout, not all appropriate but all lightened the mood. Thank you for looking after Joshua and making sure he still had a "normal" life  he loved his holiday at your house.  Thank you for being there when I needed you the most. 1. The unknown beginning

 25th May - 30th May This is when I noticed Freddie had a temperature after coming home from school and falling asleep in his school uniform. I didn't think much of it at the time. Kids get temperatures. They have calpol. They are fine.  Freddie had calpol. He was fine. He went to school the next day.  Each day he then had a temperature that seemed to be fine once he had calpol. He was fine in himself.  29th May  Fred continued to have an on and off temperature and now started with a cough. Hay-fever season. Maybe he has hay fever?  Both his brothers have just had a chest infection. Maybe he has one too?  31st May I took Freddie to the Doctors after being unable to keep his temperature down with calpol and to check his cough, which didn't sound good. 5. The 4th hospital trip

 5th June  Hours after being told Freddie was fine. I asked my Mam to come and look at him. He was awful.  He was in pain. He was hot. Sleepy. His eyes were becoming more red. His lips were becoming more swollen. He was poorly.  My Mam came round and said "He needs to go to hospital. He is one of the most sick kids I've ever seen. He is seriously unwell." He temperature was 39.5 degrees. He was saying he felt sick. I refused to take him back to Cramlington, so we took him to the RVI in Newcastle. The photos below are hours apart. From leaving Cramlington to setting off to go to the RVI. We arrived at the RVI. It was heaving. So busy.  The receptionist took one look at Freddie and got us booked in straight away.  We went into the waiting room for about 5 minutes and went to triage and from there we were took straight to a bed.  Within the hour, the Dr and nurses had done his obs.
